Why is now the right time to invest in Australian solar PV and BESS projects?

Australia’s power market is entering a major repricing cycle.

NEM electricity consumption is forecast to grow from around 178 TWh in 2025 to over 229 TWh by 2035, while business and industrial demand may rise to almost 207 TWh. Data centre demand is also accelerating, with NEM data centre load projected to reach 12 TWh by 2030 and 34 TWh by 2050. At the same time, up to 90% of coal-fired power stations are projected to retire before 2035, creating strong replacement demand for solar PV and BESS infrastructure.

Australia combines an OECD-grade legal and regulatory environment, strong solar resources and rising demand for dispatchable clean energy.

Sydney and Melbourne are emerging as major data centre hubs, while long-term energy transition planning and storage-oriented capacity frameworks continue to support renewable infrastructure. The market is large enough to attract institutional capital, but still offers room for development value before competition fully prices it away.

What makes Birubi Energy’s project pipeline attractive to investors?

Birubi is building a portfolio of 30+ solar PV and BESS projects across NSW. The platform is designed around repeatable project structures, independent SPVs, disciplined development milestones and multiple exit options, including RTB sale, COD sale, refinancing and portfolio-level monetisation.The strategy focuses on mid-sized, scalable assets rather than single-project development.

Birubi is targeting project completion or monetisation by 2029, subject to approvals, grid access, financing and market conditions.

What is the current flagship project?

Finley is one of Birubi Energy’s flagship projects, featuring a 6.5MW solar PV system and a 20MWh battery energy storage system. The project is designed to demonstrate Birubi’s preferred development profile: mid-sized, replicable, capital-efficient and suitable for institutional monetisation.

How does Birubi Energy generate project value?

Project value may be created through land control, planning approvals, grid progression, EPC preparation, construction delivery, power generation revenue and battery storage optimisation. Revenue opportunities may include solar energy sales, battery arbitrage, PPAs, LGCs and limited FCAS upside, subject to project conditions and market outcomes.

What investment or partnership structures are available?

Birubi welcomes discussions with strategic investors, infrastructure capital providers, family offices, IPPs, EPC partners and qualified counterparties.

Potential structures may include project-level investment, portfolio participation, joint venture, asset acquisition, refinancing or platform-level partnership.

How does Birubi manage project risk?

Birubi applies a structured approach to development, grid, construction, revenue, counterparty and portfolio timing risks. Key mitigation measures include milestone control, grid coordination, EPC engagement, procurement planning, commercial flexibility and due diligence on contractors and transaction participants.

Does Birubi Energy use technology to improve project performance?

Yes. Birubi is developing an intelligent operations and maintenance optimisation framework in collaboration with AI company PolarLabs and leading university partners. This capability is intended to support predictive maintenance, equipment health monitoring, performance analytics, battery dispatch optimisation and long-term O&M cost reduction.
